What is this web site for?
- To inform Alexander teachers and the public of discussions in progress about the preparations being made toward development of a single register for Alexander teachers in the UK.
- To outline the regulatory role and responsibilities of the newly formed Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.
- To outline what would be entailed if the Alexander Technique teaching profession were to join this federal regulator.
- To invite constructive feedback from Alexander teachers and from the public.
What is the ATVSRG?
Between September 1998 and April 2001 informal meetings took place between representatives of the four professional organizations for Alexander teachers in the UK to discuss the possibility of forming a joint group that would explore voluntary self-regulation of teachers of the Alexander Technique. The joint group was set up in 2001 with the title ATVSRG.
Organizations such as the British School of Yoga, Meridian College and the Open College that offer correspondence courses advertised as comprising training in the teaching of the Alexander Technique have been informed about our role in the regulation process. So far none of these organizations has responded.
